Samherji completed the purchasing of Brim in Akureyri in July 29th 2011 and the company was named Útgerðarfélag Akureyringa, in short ÚA.
ÚA is an advanced white fish processing plant located in Akureyri, Samherji’s home town. The plant employs 130 people and has a good reputation for producing quality fresh and frozen white fish for the European and other markets.
ÚA also runs a technically advanced plant at Laugar (NE Iceland) which produces dry fish (heads and tails) for the Nigerian market.
