Samherji officially takes over the foreign operations of Sjólaskip

Samherji hf. took officially over the overseas operations of Sjolaskip hf. on Friday June 1st. Katla Seafood, a new subsidiary of Samherji, was established to run the operations and Adalsteinn Helgason has been hired as Managing Director.Katla Seafood, a new subsidiary of Samherji took over the overseas operations of Sjolaskip hf. on Friday June 1st.  Adalsteinn Helgason is Managing Director of Katla Seafood. Adalsteinn was previously Managing Director of Síldarvinnslan hf. in Neskaupsstadur.

After this latest aquisition Samherji´s annual turnover will be 25 to 30 milliards ISK with nearly 70% of its operations abroad.

Sjólaskip hf. and subsidiaries have, in the past years, operated six factory ships and two service ships in Mauritanian and Moroccan waters. The headquarters are in Iceland with a base in The Canary Islands. The business employs over one thousand employees of various nationalities, including over 80 Icelanders.
