Samherji buys a ship for Capelin fishing

Samherji hf. has, due to a an increase in the Capelin quota, bought the purse seiner/trawler Högaberg from E.M. Shipping in the Faero Islands.  A clause in the purchase agreement allowes the ship to be sold back to the former owner within 3 months from the date of signing.
Högaberg (EA 12) can carry 2.200 tons of pelagic fish and will provide raw material for Samherji´s fishmeal- and oil plant in Grindavík. Oskar Ævarsson Plant Manager in Grindavik is looking towards a lively Capelin fishing season and says that this purchase will strenghten the plant´s acquirement of raw material.   "This increase in the quota is far greater than expected and we are very optimistic for a good season", said Oskar Ævarsson in Grindavik.
Högaberg has already left the Faeroe Islands and will arrive in Eskifjordur tomorrow morning. The Management of Samherji is hoping to finalize the Icelandic registration of the ship tomorrow and the ship will be able to start fishing without delay.
