A decision has been made to sell Akureyrin EA-110 to Onward Fishing Company, Samherji´s daughter company in Great Britain. The ship will be delivered in early September.

Akureyrin EA which is 1.318 gross tonnage was built in Poland in the year 1974. It was Samherji´s first ship and has been operated by the company from the year 1983. Akureyrin has been a very successful ship and has, from the beginning, been among the country´s highest ships in total catch. The seamen will be offered work onboard one of Samherji´s other ships and lay-offs are not anticipated. Selling price of the ship is 275 million ISK but the sale will not affect the Groups operations or assets.

A new Akureyrin EA-110

As already announced Samherji just recently bought Sléttbakur EA, previously owned by Útgerðarfélag Akureyringa and the ship is being delivered today. The ship will be docked before it sails for Samherji and will be given the name Akureyrin EA-110. At the same time Onward receives old Akureyrin, Norma Mary (ex.Snæfugl), which Onward has rented for the past years, will be returned to Síldarvinnslan hf.
