Three Norwegian tramp steamers hired by Samherji hf., have in the last few days collected products from  Samherji and other collaborating companies, in harbours in the Northern and Eastern part of Iceland for export. The quantity totals just over 8.500 tons of frozen products; almost entirely capelin products. The fourth tramp steamer shipped a few days ago about 2.400 tons of capelin products from Iceland so in a short time this transport totals almost 11.000 tons.

The reefer Green Frost arrived in Reyðarfjordur the day before yesterday and is being loaded about 2.300 tons of capelin products.
Green Bodö collected products in Thorshöfn and Vopnafjördur last week. The ship was fully loaded in Nordfjördur this morning but it takes around 2.200 tons.
Green Selje was being loaded in Akureyri yesterday and that work will finish today.  The ship then sails eastbound and will be fully loaded in Nordfjördur with total 3.800 tons.

According to Unnar Jónsson in the Sales- and Export department of Samherji hf. they have been very busy due to these transporting activities.  A lot of work has gone into coordinating the landing of the freezing vessels and the sales of the products with the transport.

The reefers will transport the products to a cold store in Klaipeda, Lithuania from where they will be distributed to various East-European countries.
The tramp steamer Ice Bird collected a few days ago herring and capelin products in Ísafjördur, Akureyri and Norðfjördur, total about 2.400 tons.  There of 700 tons  were shipped to the cold store Bergfrost in the Faroe Islands and 1.700 tons were shipped to Lithuania.
